Sydney has a multitude of events happening in the first quarter of 2015. We have highlighted some of the best things to do and see in and around Sydney from February to April 2015. The events listed are good for families, couples, social groups, and corporate incentive packages. Transportation to these events can be through shuttle services, or private coach hire.

The New South Wales Food & Wine Festival
Date 1 February – 1 March

The New South Wales (NSW) Food & Wine Festival is back for it’s eighth year in a row and is better than ever. This year’s festival will kick off with the Sydney Morning Herald’s Grower’s Market. The Grower’s Market turns 17 years old in 2015. The Grower’s Market is open every first Saturday of the month from 7:00 am to 11:00 am except January. Over 70 vendors sell seasonal vegetables, and meats like lamb, grass fed beef, and rare breed pork. This year’s festival will introduce the new Lunar Markets, and of course the Sydney Wine Cellar will be present.

 

Australian Open of Surfing
Date 7 – 15 February

Surfing and skateboarding enthusiasts check out the Australian Open of Surfing for nine full days of events. Manly beach will be filled with surfers, skaters, plenty of musical entertainment, vendors, and fans.

 

Bowl-A-Rama Bowl Riding World Series
Date 17 – 22 February

Join pro skater Tony Hawk for the annual Bowl-A-Rama Bowl Riding World Series. A full six day extravaganza to celebrate art, music, film, and true skateboard culture. Vans has held this festival dedicated to skateboarding for 11 years and this year will be as exciting as ever. The main competition will be held on the 21st of February.

 

ICC Cricket World Cup

Date 27 February & 8, 13, 18, 26

See the superstar teams of Cricket battle it out for the world’s highest cricket honors The Cricket World Cup. Teams will be announced as the tournament gets underway, you can get tickets ahead of time, or wait to see if your team makes the cut.

 

Celebrate Chinese New Year in Sydney
Date 13 February – 1 March

2015 welcomes the year of the Sheep in the Chinese zodiac. The festival lasts for two weeks and will feature the Lanterns of the Terracotta Warriors facing the Harbour, a traditional parade with Chinese dragons and acrobats, lot’s of ethnic foods, and even Dragon Boat Races.

Les Misérables
Date From March

The world famous musical Les Misérables is coming to Sydney in March. There will be performances six days a week, with only Mondays being dark. Tickets and showtimes are available online.

 

The Byron Bay International Film Festival
Date 6 – 15 March

The 9th annual Byron Bay International Film Festival runs from 6 – 15 March. The 10 day program will feature over 220 films, across 5 venues, in 3 regional cinemas. This grassroots event will promote films from over 35 countries in all lengths and genres. There is something for everyone to enjoy.

 

Blue Mountains Music Festival
Date 13 – 15 March

The 20th annual Blue Mountains Music Festival will have 100 shows, on 8 stages over 3 days. Both Macy Gray and John Butler have confirmed their performances at this years show. To help you plan your weekend the complete schedule of events is listed on their official website.

 

The Sydney Royal Easter Show
Date 26 March – 8 April

The largest annual event in Australia draws a crowd of over 900,000 people. The Sydney Royal Easter Show celebrates Australian culture and has been running since 1823. A celebration of agriculture and Australian rural way of life. Things to enjoy are agricultural competitions, animal exhibits, a carnival, shopping, and loads of entertainment.

Verdi Aida – Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour
Date 27 March – 26 April

An epic tale of a royal love triangle, a war, and Egyptians gathered en masse will enthrall audiences from the first moment to the last note. This grand opera has a crew and cast of over 700 people and is the biggest opera ever to be showcased at the Sydney Opera House. Come and be a part of this amazing show.

 

Bluesfest
Date 2 – 6 April

The 26th annual Bluesfest is on and the line up is spectacular. With 7 stages, 5 licensed bars, over 50 market stalls, and more than 40 food stalls there will be something for everyone. This 5 day festival welcomes artists like, The Black Keys, Alabama Shakes, Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, Lenny Kravitz, Hozier, Hunter Hayes, and many many more.

 

Mercedes Benz Fashion Weekend Edition
Date 18 – 19 April

Sydney is a mecca for well known and aspiring designers. Some say, “Sydney is fashion.” The Mercedes Benz Fashion Weekend Edition will be showcasing the latest fashions on catwalks throughout the city. Spend and evening with the designers, or have tea while seeing some of the latest fashions, whatever your pleasure there is a full lineup events for the fashionista.

Sail Port Stephens
Date 13 – 19 April

Port Stephens makes for a wonderful day trip from Sydney. Just 2.5 hours away there are lovely beaches, fabulous dining, boutique shopping, and whale & dolphin watching. The Sail Port Stephens event will take place from 13-19 April and will have multiple racing divisions for speed sailing, performance sailing, and even junior events. Sailors of all ages are encouraged to join in the fun.

 

Balloon RaceBalloon Race
Date 12 – 19 April

Last year the Canowindra balloon challenge was able to contribute $2 million to local schools, charities, and sporting groups. This unique and fun event for the whole family gives immediately back to the community supporting it. There will be a full week of flying, with competitions commencing on Saturday, followed Saturday night by the Balloon Glow Fire & Light spectacular. The grand finale will be the mass balloon launch on Sunday from the Sports Grounds.
